Miriam Peterson Director / Lead Teacher in Private School
Miriam has her Bachelors of Science in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Brigham Young University.
Miriam has tutored for many years. She met with children independently on a regular basis and helped improve their reading and science testing scores dramatically. She has home schooled her 3 children full time for the last 18 years. Miriam has been the leader for the home school organization for San Juan County for 10 years. She organized educational classes and social events.
Miriam started a clowning business in 1990 offering birthday parties, deliveries and ballooning at special events. She has been a clown for 22 years and can make almost any animal out of a long skinny balloon.
Miriam has participated in extensive leadership roles. She has been a member of the LDS Eastland Branch for over 15 years and has served as the young women president, the children’s primary president, web page administrator, in the R.S. Presidency and head librarian. She has been a Webelos scout den leader, has volunteered at Blue Mt. Scout camp for several year and is currently a merit badge counselor for many merit badges including Game Design, Robotics and Basketry. She organized the Raptor Robotics community team in 2010 and led the team for 3 years to the high school world robotics competition where they scored 5th place in their division their final year. She has been a 4-H Leader, Home school leader, American Girl Book Club leader and community leader.
Miriam started Mission Discovery School in 2013. She is the director and has been the lead teacher in the Private School from 2013-2016 and was the lead teacher in the Preschool for a semester. She works well to adapt her teaching to each child’s needs and understands what each child needs.
