Summer Camp Q&A

Q: Are you affiliated with boy scouts or scouting America ?

A: No, we just use a lot of their older curriculum from merit badge books.

Q: Do you offer a discount for the second child in a family?

A: Yes, a 5% discount is applied to the tuition portion of any student beyond the first two enrolled.

Q: Will you only have teen volunteers at the camps for leadership?

A: We expect to have 2 adults plus teen volunteers.

General Q&A

Q: Does your program vary per grade?

A: Yes, Grades K-2 uses play based explorative learning and classical books

Grades 3-5 will add in educational materials from Scout merit badge books.

Grades 6+ will add in internship programs

Q: Is it like a one room classroom, all ages combined?

A: We will separate into 3 age groups, as enrollment volume allows.

Q: How many students / teachers are invited into the program and what is the teacher to student ratio?

A: We expect to have up to 6 classes in San Juan County Utah. Class sizes are 8-10 students per teacher.

Q: What is your transportation going to be?

A: We will have pickup locations at city parks in Blanding and Monticello.

Q: Are there butterflies on your bus?

A: LOL, they study the butterflies on the bus, then explore the forest to find them.

Q: How does the school strengthen family bonds?

A: Families are welcome to join in our adventures, our schedule easily aligns with family schedules, teachers and parents have a direct connection.

Q: What training do your staff have?

A: Miriam Peterson has a current active educator’s license and has a degree from Brigham Young University in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education. Future staff will have the skills necessary to support the school’s missions and goals.

Q: What are you doing when it's cold Monticello doesn't have a very long warm season.

A: Participants will dress for the weather. We have a large army tent that can get very warm inside, and we will use indoor facilities as necessary in inclement weather.

Q: Is this considered year round school?

A: No, we will mostly follow the San Juan School district schedule, but we will take a longer winter break. We will offer summer camps in the summer, but with a separate enrollment.
